Walking out of the Terminal 1 at the Barcelona Airport, I had a feeling of suffering from jet lag; nonetheless, the new country and place made me ignore it. Barcelona looked beautiful with its ideal location surrounded by mountains on one side and the sea on the other side. Though the place is strongly influenced by the history, which is showcased through many of its architectural buildings, modernism has crept in with many new structures built using the latest technology.
We had to travel to W Barcelona Hotel, which is situated in Placa de la Rosa dels Vents at about 20 km from the airport. Looking for the cab we walked out of the terminal and found the one with a driver holding a placard with our names written on it. I found the hotel an ideal place for our stay in Barcelona because of their world-class facilities and booked a Mega Room using a cheap hotel deals app.
We had a long forty-minute drive before we reached the hotel. At one look I liked the hotel for its location in front of the beach. I learned that the building was designed by Ricardo Bofill and housed about 473 rooms and suites and other amenities. The lobby was quite large and luxuriously designed with wooden furniture and panels. We were welcomed and ushered to the reception area, where a young gentleman welcomed us.
It just took a few minutes to complete the formality and we were guided to the Mega room. The room was situated in the corner with the striking view of the sea. It was quite spacious and was well
appointed. The beds were large for three, two adults and a child to accommodate. The other facilities included are the latest entertainment system, ipod docking station, 32 inches LCD TV,
internet, bathtub and shower, radio alarm clock, and so on.
As for dining, W Barcelona Hotel has Bravo24, which offers both local and international cuisines. If you are looking for light snacks, you have Wave. The Salt, a la carte restaurant offered variety of dishes. There are also bar facility with Eclipse Bar serving in the indoors, while the Wet Bar serving by the pool. Being a foodie I wanted to experience a few of the Catalan dishes. Since we were tired and wanted to refresh, we ordered coffee.
