Fraser Island Australia - For a Pristine Experience

My next itinerary took me to the eastern coast of Australia. I was headed to another world heritage site, the Fraser Island Australia, which is touted to be amongst the best places to visit with friends and family. The strikingly beautiful white colored beaches, stretching endlessly with colorful cliffs on both sides and more than one hundred fresh water lakes, was something I was not going to miss. Flying to Brisbane and then taking a connecting flight to Hervey Bay, we finally checked into one the many tourist resorts. These beach resorts offer the best that money can buy. The view from the resort is absolutely fantastic. From the window of my room I could see the endless stretch of the beach and as my eyes wondered further, the turquoise blue of the water totally mesmerized not only me, but also my son, who squealed and wanted to run into the water at once.

I was told that the four-wheel driving was an ‘in’ thing on this island, which can be experienced by getting a valid permit from concerned authorities. So armed with the vehicle access permit my son and I hopped on to a vehicle and sped off down the never ending beach, leaving a plume of dust in our wake. The drive was an exhilarating experience and helped me to enjoy the vast expanse of the famous island beach. The next thing we tried was the well-known beach fishing, unique to this island.

We also booked ourselves on the guided tour offered by the island. The next morning we were picked up from our resort and that started our tour of this magnificent island. The arrangements on this tour included all meals and multipurpose accommodations. It suited me fine and I had to adjust while travelling. The main attraction of the guided tour, we were told by our experienced guide, was whale watching. This was not only because of the calm and protected waters of this island, but also because this stretch of island fell on the migratory route of the great humpback whale. It was absolutely something that I was looking forward to capture in my camera.

We rounded off our stay in Fraser Island Australia with a cooling splash in the ocean and prepared for ourselves for the last leg of adventure.
